Found Art

What is Found Art? This from Wiki:

‘The term found art—more commonly found object (French: objet trouvé) or readymade—describes art created from the undisguised, but often modified, use of objects that are not normally considered art, often because they already have a non-art function. Marcel Duchamp was the originator of this in the early 20th century.

Found art derives its identity as art from the designation placed upon it by the artist.’

Well, the concept as developed by Duchamp did catch on, and I for one always think of him when I take a pee in a French urinal. And when I create an image based on what I find ‘out there’ I’m putting his words into practise. Seeing something as-well-as, and else, other.

I think of ‘Walk in the Park Photography’ as being not unlike found art. The trick is in seeing what really presents itself rather than seeing just enough to get by.

I also call it Photorealism.
